Shivani Bindal, MD

Postdoctoral Fellow PGY-6 Neurosurgery Resident

Shivani Bindal, MD, was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, and grew up in Houston, Texas. She graduated with High Honors from The University of Texas at Austin as part of a combined 7-year BS/MD program and attended the University of Texas at Southwestern School of Medicine, where she was elected into the Alpha Omega Alpha (AOA) honor society.

Currently a PGY-6 Neurosurgery Resident at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston, Dr. Bindal's research interests are deeply rooted in the development of targeted therapies for breast cancer metastases to the brain. Her work focuses on understanding the molecular mechanisms driving the progression of these metastases. She aims to improve patient outcomes through precision medicine approaches, particularly in overcoming resistance to therapy in brain tumors.

Her clinical interests include neuro-oncology and general cranial and spine neurosurgery. In her free time, she enjoys cooking, using her Peloton, and spending time with her husband.
