Shams Syed, BS

Shams completed dual degrees in Biochemistry and English at Rice University, graduating in 2022. He worked for a year at Houston Methodist Research Institute on infectious disease research in streptococcus microbiology before entering medical school at McGovern. At McGovern, he found a strong interest in neuroscience and completed his 2024 summer research project with the Lo Lab, winning the Undergraduate Student Research Webber prize. He enjoys reading adventure novels and exercising in his free time.
